In Louis Riddick’s recent NFL Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos have selected Christian Hackenberg, the quarterback from Penn State. Would this be a solid pick up in Round One?

The NFL Draft is just a few days away. While all the final mock drafts are coming and going, one analysis has made quite the interesting pick for the Denver Broncos with the 31st overall pick.

In Louis Riddick’s mock draft, the only one he does the entire draft season, he has the Broncos selecting Penn State University quarterback Christian Hackenberg.

Well, this is quite a twist. I did not expect Hackenberg to come out of the draft until Round Two at the earliest. But with such a high demand at the quarterback position this season, it makes sense.

In my opinion, I honestly believe that Christian Hackenberg would not be the best pick for the Denver Broncos. His last two years as a Nittany Lion was really subpar. And that is putting it lightly. He does have the leadership traits, just not the skill set in the last two seasons.

His throwing accuracy was very disturbing. He only completed 51.5 percent of his passes combine in the time at Penn State. This does not sound like a quarterback that could help the Broncos win a Super Bowl in the near future. While things like that can be improved upon, that is not good coming into the NFL.

According to Colin Cowherd, he believes that accuracy will not change from the college level to the NFL. And I have to say I am a firm believer in that. If you are not accurate at the college level, the one’s that enter the draft are going to have an more difficult time adjusting to the league.

Plus, I think if the Denver Broncos do not draft Paxton Lynch, they should wait until Round Three to pick a guy. I just do not see Christian Hackenberg fitting with the Denver Broncos at all. Unless there is something I have yet to see.

But perhaps Louis Riddick knows something about him and his fit in the Broncos system. Guess we will have to see on draft day.
