4. (98th overall) Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame

I don’t really know anything about Jaylon Smith’s medical situation, other than what I saw on television and what has been reported since. We don’t know the whole story, so it’s impossible to know whether or not teams are going to flat out fail him medically or whether he will play football again.

If he is going to play football again, then this is a bargain. This would give the Broncos basically an additional first round pick in 2017, and a compensatory pick is well worth that investment. Even if Smith never plays a down in the NFL, this pick is something to seriously consider because this guy was probably the best defensive player in the draft before his gruesome injury.

If the Broncos can get him at full strength again someday, they are getting an extremely talented all-around linebacker.
