2016 NFL Draft: Clemson Tigers linebacker B.J. Goodson, who had 108 tackles as a senior, reportedly visited the Denver Broncos…

The Denver Broncos will be in search of a new linebacker at some point in the 2016 NFL Draft, and Clemson’s B.J. Goodson will certainly be one of the players under consideration.

Goodson was one of the best all-around linebackers in the country this past season, filling up the stat sheet with 108 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He also showed phenomenal athletic ability at the Scouting Combine…

The Broncos are going to have plenty of competition at linebacker this offseason with Brandon Marshall possibly holding out for a new contract and Danny Trevathan bolting for the Chicago Bears. Todd Davis figures to be the starting linebacker with Marshall when the season opens, and Corey Nelson and Zaire Anderson will provide depth behind.

Aside from those four guys, the Broncos need competition at inside linebacker, and someone who could possibly start down the line. Goodson was a team captain for Clemson this past season, and was the leader of one of the most talented defenses in all of college football.

He won’t be the Tiger drafted the highest this year, but he could certainly carve out a long career for himself in this league. Physically, he reminds me a bit of Navorro Bowman coming out of Penn State, but I don’t know if his game has fully developed to that level yet. The good news for NFL teams is, they have a guy who put on a show in his senior season that has all of the physical makeup of a stud inside linebacker.

Part of what the Broncos are going to be looking for is someone who can cover, and Goodson proved this past year that he has the athleticism and versatility to do just that.

This guy could be a steal after the second round.
