The Denver Broncos will reportedly host Michigan State QB Connor Cook for a pre-draft visit on Wednesday. Cook is considered a 1st-2nd round player…

According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the Denver Broncos will be getting to know future NFL quarterback Connor Cook, formerly of Michigan State…

It’s safe to say that Cook wouldn’t be my top option at this point for the Broncos, but I have backed off my January statement that I would cease to be a fan if he were selected by the Broncos. I have accepted the reality of our quarterback situation, and understand that Cook is one of the most ‘pro-ready’ players in the draft at the position.

Starting for the Spartans the last three years, Cook has not improved his completion percentage (under 60 percent every season at MSU) but his TD to interception ratio has always been good, and he has been in and won a lot of big games.

The major question marks surrounding Cook are not even necessarily what he does on the field, it’s his impact off of it. Cook was not voted a team captain by his teammates at Michigan State in his senior year, and many think he’s not the most likable guy in the locker room.

So, the Broncos are getting to know him. They are going to bring him in for an interview, and they absolutely should. The Broncos would have to invest a first round pick in this kid, unless they traded down into the early second round, but there could and probably will be teams at the top of the second round who pass on quarterbacks that will be looking to take him.

When you watch him play at Michigan State, you see a guy who has the arm to make every throw. He’s got enough athleticism to make plays with his legs when needed. All of the measurables and skills appear to be there, but what kind of leader is Cook, or is he capable of being?

The Broncos are going to try and find out.
