Denver Broncos 7-round mock draft 1.0
6. K.J. Dillon, S, West Virginia
Like I said before, the Broncos will continue to look for depth at the safety position, and I love it when teams double up on college teammates to reunite them in the NFL. With their early 5th round pick acquired from the Baltimore Ravens, why not take K.J. Dillon, the running mate of Karl Joseph at WVU?
Dillon is a different style of player, but is always around the ball. He’s got athleticism and great ball skills, and I think would be a really good special teams player for the Broncos as well.
Again, in a thin class of safeties, some team could wind up taking Dillon much higher than this, but in the early 5th round, this is a nice bargain for the Broncos and a guy who developed and improved every year he was in college. He had 8 PBU in his senior season with WVU, in addition to two interceptions and 6.5 tackles for loss.
