New Predictions For Broncos 7-Round Mock Draft
Seventh Round, 235th Pick: Brandon Allen
Brandon Allen, along with Cardale Jones, might be one the most intriguing quarterbacks in this years draft. The Arkansas quarterback has the touch on throws and zip necessary to make the Broncos’ wide receivers happy.
Allen has the athleticism to work with the bootlegs and rollouts in the Gary Kubiak system. Allen came from a Brett Bielema, pro-style offense and showed at times to be accurate on the run. A catchable spiral is a wide receivers best friend and Allen can throw it with the best of them. One of the underrated aspects of Allen’s game is to give his targets opportunities for yards after the catch. Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Bennie Fowler and Cody Latimer all have that in their repertoire.
A small frame at 6-1, 217 lbs., Allen still presents an over-the-top delivery with enough zip on his throw to go from sideline to sideline. His willingness to take chances could get him burned, but those throws are still necessary when the defense is not expecting it. Allen must show improvement in his pocket presence and progression after the first read to jump up the depth chart to be the Broncos future quarterback, but he is worth the risk.
