8. The Patriots are being stupid

The New England Patriots are being stupid this offseason, hate to break it to their fan base. They started things off in the stupidity department by trading their best pass rusher — Chandler Jones — for draft bust Jonathan Cooper and a 2nd round pick.

They followed that up by signing Chris Long, who had three sacks last year, to a one-year contract. They came out of a wave of the offseason also with Donald Brown and Shea McClellin, two more guys who could probably at this point be considered first round ‘busts’.

In case you’re keeping track, that’s three former first round busts and then Chris Long, who hasn’t been good in a couple of years.

The Patriots then made a shrewd move to trade for Bears TE Martellus Bennett, giving up a fourth round pick in the process.

I’ll give them the Bennett addition. That is nice. But their fan base is freaking out about Chris Hogan and Shea McClellin, and justifying the fact that they traded their best pass rusher. Jones has had off-field issues pop up, but imagine if the Broncos had traded Von Miller after the 2014 season…

Yuck.
