Brock Osweiler is a member of the Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos are in search of their new starting quarterback.
The options at the position actually are appealing and it is up to the Denver Broncos to choose the best fit for their offense. I know what Broncos fans are thinking. We lost Malik Jackson, Brock Osweiler and Danny Trevathan. All hope is lost. Wrong. It does not matter who the players the Bronco will target during free agency or the draft. The two constants with the team are a solid coaching staff and the incredible depth on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
All of this start with the quarterback and who they choose to fill Peyton Manning and Osweiler’s shoes. There are many alternatives they could look and the next quarterback to start looks like it is Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick. Both have more starting experience than Ryan Fitzpatrick who is also on the market.
Griffin is the reasonable candidate over Kaepernick given his move in ready situation with no money added to the roster. They can sign Griffin at the right price and a lesser price than Kaepernick. Griffin’s skillset is similar to Kaepernick’s. Both quarterbacks ran a heavy run and play action offense relying on the read option. The read option will benefit the running game more and the offensive line since that is what offensive line love to do most.
NOTES: If Robert Griffin III signs with the Broncos, keep in mind, running back Alfred Morris will be a name to watch to see if he follows his teammate to Denver.
Colin Kaepernick’s former teammate in Nevada, Virgil Green is the tight end with the Broncos.
