Cardale Jones

The National Champion quarterback Ohio State Buckeyes had a tumultuous season in 2015. But Cardale Jones has the big-body mold and speed of the new wave NFL quarterback on his side entering the 2016 NFL Draft.

Jones has the physical tools and presence to make it at the next level, but needs more experience to continue developing his skillset. He could potentially be a steal with whoever drafts him. His best attribute, in my opinion, is withstanding hits like Russell Wilson and Cam Newton. According to a current NFL offensive coordinator, “You want to buy into the size and arm but his accuracy and game management just aren’t there yet. He doesn’t even have 300 passes under his belt! Compare him to (Teddy) Bridewater and (Derek) Carr. Blows those guys away with the physical stuff but he can’t touch their poise and leadership as young quarterbacks.”

Improvement of Jones’ ability to read progressions without running after his first alternative must change at the next level. However, he progressed as the season went on, raising eyebrows of many scouts. Jones is accustomed to a running offense, which could leave options for him on the outside during play-action and could benefit in a Broncos style offense.

With big quarterbacks such as Jameis Winston and Newton, Jones will be selected in the draft, but which pick remains to be seen.
