Trevor Siemian

There is only one quarterback on the roster that could leap to starter for the Broncos. Trevor Siemian will have a legitimate chance to compete for starter at quarterback day one of training camp.

Siemian overcame being relegated to a backup role while at Northwestern University. His intelligence, arm strength and ability to adapt to the offense won over the coaching staff by being retained instead of Zac Dysert. While, Siemian’s collegiate performance was unappealing at best, his 2015 rookie preseason performance and making the 53-man roster should be enough for Broncos’ coaches to look harder at Siemian this upcoming season.

To understand just how impressed the Broncos are on Siemian, Rod Smith, on the local radio station 104.3 The Fan, stated the wide receivers trust Siemian when he throws the ball. According to the coaches on the Broncos staff, Smith stated they noticed Siemian throws the ball like 3-time All-Pro and 5-time pro bowler, Aaron Rodgers. If there is one thing we know about Rodgers, no one can throw the ball like him. That is high praise for the third-string quarterback who surprised everyone by being added to the 53-man roster.

Siemian may still be the backup next year, but the coaches praise and confidence may surprise fans.
