Broncos, Von Miller Not Expected to Reach Deal
By Tylor Walden
It appears as if the Denver Broncos and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller will not be able to finish a deal before the franchise tag deadline. Here is how this will impact the other free agents.
It is funny how things can change in negotiations in just a few short days.
Adam Schefter has reported that it is unlikely that the Denver Broncos and Von Miller will be able to come to terms with a new deal before the March 1st franchise tag deadline. This means that most likely the Broncos will use the franchise tag on him.
If this does become true, then it becomes more difficult to retain some of the other free agents. We all knew that the Broncos were going to keep Miller. The problem would be holding on to the majority of the rest of the team.
This puts players like Malik Jackson, Brock Osweiler, and Danny Trevathan in a difficult spot. With Miller possibly getting the tag, this means that there could be a handful of players that will not return for the Broncos.
The franchise tag price for Von Miller is set at $14.129 million dollars.
There is still a chance that the deal for Miller and the Broncos gets done before the franchise tag deadline, but it is not looking good. The next step in that process would be to come up with a deal before the July deadline.
If all the pieces fall into place before the July deadline, we can see the Broncos giving Miller that huge deal. It is just somewhat disappointing that the two sides might not come to a deal in time. It places a lot of pressure.

In my opinion, I think this places a huge impact on Malik Jackson’s future with the Broncos. I do not see Jackson coming back because of it. But you never know what is happening behind closed doors.
I would not be surprised if Elway made one final push before the March 1st deadline. Until it becomes official, we will just have to wait and see.
In Elway We Trust.
