6. David Bruton gets a starting gig elsewhere

The Broncos’ starting safety duo of Darian Stewart and T.J. Ward is firmly entrenched, but David Bruton is perhaps the teams best cover safety.

He is also a team captain and one of the best players in the community.

That is the kind of player you want to build your locker room around, and I think he’s a perfect fit for the Chicago Bears. Bruton, who attended Notre Dame, would reunite with former Broncos coach John Fox and could be a starting safety for the Chicago Bears, and I think they’d be willing to give him a nice chunk of cash, possibly in the $5 million per season range. With Ward and Stewart (who is a free agent in 2017) the Broncos simply can’t afford that right now, and it’d be hard to blame Bruton for pursuing a starting gig with another team.

I think Bruton to the Bears is a move the whole league should see coming. It’s a great fit.
