5. Nate Sudfeld, QB, Indiana

With their first of three 7th round selections, the Broncos take Sudfeld, a QB from Indiana that I think could ultimately go much higher than this. The physical traits are there, but the consistency was not. Sudfeld played in an offense at Indiana that highlighted his strengths as much as possible, but his accuracy was all over the map at times.

In the later rounds, this is a player worth the risk. He’s a very interesting guy at 6-6 235 pounds that I have written about here at PO before, and I certainly wouldn’t mind this pick here though I would question what it means for another guy this team likes a lot — Trevor Siemian.

6. Brandon Doughty, QB, Western Kentucky

Reaction: If John Elway really loves QBs as much as he says he does, I guess then adding a fourth in Brandon Doughty would be a fun pick here. I don’t know if I could see it happening, but I really liked what I saw at times from Doughty on tape. He doesn’t have the strongest arm or the ideal body type for an NFL starter, but the guy made some incredible plays for WKU and put up ridiculous numbers.

He’s worth the discussion in draft rooms.

7. Jimmy Pruitt, CB, San Jose State

Reaction: A 6-foot, 203 pound defensive back prospect who picked off three passes this past year for San Jose State. I don’t know much about him at this point, but based on his production, he looks like a great late-round flier and a player who could possibly add some depth to the secondary and special teams.
