The Denver Broncos lead the Carolina Panthers 13-7 going into halftime. I take a look at the first half and give my reactions and analysis.
Alright Broncos Country, we are 30 minutes away from crowning a champion. The Denver Broncos lead the Carolina Panthers 13-7 going into the half.
I am now going to take a look at the first half and give my takes on the performance so far.
Von Miller forces the first touchdown of the game
Halfway through the first quarter, the Broncos defense showed how dominant they have been all season. On a 3rd Down play, Von Miller strip sacks Cam Newton and Malik Jackson recovered the ball in the end zone.
In the first quarter, the Broncos defense proved their worth, limiting Newton and getting to him with some great pressure. As long as the defense can continue that trend, they should be in good hands.
Oh, and one more thing, Von Miller will get paid if he continues to make plays like this in the game.
Jordan Norwood holds a new Super Bowl record
Halfway through the second quarter, the Panthers were forced to punt the football. In a strange move, Jordan Norwood would not call fair catch with two Panthers defenders closing in on him, he evaded them both and return it for 61 yards.
That play gives Norwood the Super Bowl record for longest punt return in NFL history. Must be a great feeling for a guy that has had to deal with injuries for the majority of his career. All I can say is good for him.
Broncos defense holding strong
No matter what you can throw at the Broncos defense, they can stand up to the task. The only problem I have had with them is the penalties by Aqib Talib.
I am especially impressed with the interior pressure and the play of the linebackers Von Miller and Demarcus Ware. They had done what they could to get into Newton’s face all game. These two are the best when it comes to creating pressure. Although, the interior of Wolfe, Williams, and Jackson deserve credit too.
