Week 17: vs. San Diego Chargers

With a huge win over the Bengals, the Broncos were playoff bound. And with home field advantage still within reach, the Broncos would host San Diego in the regular season finale.

Just like I did with the Week 17 Fanzone article, I have brought back Brandon Perna from Mile High Huddle to recap this game, which featured such a huge moment for the season.

Favorite Moment:

The Week 17 game against the San Diego Chargers was probably the most significant matchup for the Denver Broncos in terms of establishing their identity heading into the playoffs. The best moment from that game, without question, was Peyton Manning’s return to the field as the starting quarterback. There were many observers who questioned the decision as it happened, and after the game despite the fact that the Broncos won, and clinched the #1 seed in the AFC.”

Pulling Brock Osweiler from the starting position, even though the majority of Denver’s struggles were not his fault was the smartest, and boldest move Kubiak as the head coach of the Broncos. I’m excited for the future Brock has in front of him, but right now, as the Broncos prepare for Super Bowl 50, I am confident with Peyton Manning leading this offense.”

Peyton Manning’s brain is something that cannot be replicated by any other QB in the NFL, and even with his current physical limitations I’m comfortable knowing he puts the offense in the best position for success every play.

MVP of Chargers Game:

In terms of naming an MVP from the Broncos vs Chargers final regular season game, I think it’s impossible. That game was nearly a team loss, and in victory took everyone coming together to finish with a lead. The offense turned the ball over four times in the First Half, but the defense only surrendered three points. That first half performance from Wade Phillips’ group is worthy of MVP consideration.”
