Denver Broncos edge rusher Von Miller addressed the questions surrounding his teammates’ comments about how they are going to tackle Rob Gronkowski ‘low’ in Sunday’s AFC Championship game…

Von Miller is a pretty funny guy, and because of his fast from social media, we have sadly not seen any commentary from him about Rob Gronkowski’s ‘low blows’ Tweet.

Miller was being asked by reporters about tackling Gronkowski low, and whether or not he’s been taught how to tackle a guy as physically dominant as the Patriots’ star tight end…

“I don’t think it’s ever been taught before to tackle a guy who is 6—8, 300 pounds,” Miller said in jest. “It’s never really been taught. ‘You have to tackle this guy.’ It’s never really been broken down. The thing that we have to do well is just get him on the ground and we have to tackle well. It’s very, very vague, but we just have to tackle well. We have to be extremely good tacklers come Sunday.”

The Broncos, like every other NFL team that plays the Patriots, face an incredibly difficult task with both the quick release of Tom Brady and the ability of his weapons to make plays after the catch. That’s why all this talk of tackling well has come about. It’s never an easy task, but if any team has the speed defensively to get it done, it’s this year’s Denver Broncos squad.

“We are going to try to tackle. We have to tackle,” Miller said. “We have to tackle Rob well. He’s very good at breaking tackles, very good at yards after contact so we are going to have to be excellent right there to have a chance to win the game.”

Miller isn’t breaking any new ground with these comments. Tackling the other team’s best player is probably a little bit less important to Miller than getting to Tom Brady, who on average got rid of the ball in two seconds against the Kansas City Chiefs on passing plays.

The ball is going to come out of Brady’s hands quickly, and it’s going to be up to the Broncos to break down and make a play. The question is whether or not the number one defense in the league will be up to the task?

I like their chances.
