For the first time in the history of the series, both the Broncos and Chargers would face off in the playoffs. It would prove to be quite a great game.

The Chargers entered the game as the No. 6 seed after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card round one week earlier. The Broncos had home field advantage throughout the playoffs as the No. 1 seed after a historical 2013 campaign.

The Broncos scored a touchdown in each of the first two quarter’s when Manning connected with Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker to take a 14-0 lead going into the half.

Matt Prater would add a 45 yard field goal in the third quarter to give the Broncos a commanding 17-0 lead going into the 4th Quarter. But the Chargers would not go away quietly.

The Chargers would outscore the Broncos 17-7 in the final fifteen minutes of the game to put the game within reach. However, the Broncos got the ball back and never relinquished it as they would run out the clock to give them a 24-17 win and to advance to the AFC Championship Game.
