With December football underway, the playoff picture begins to shape up. And the Denver Broncos have a chance to punch their ticket to January football this weekend.
The Broncos go up against the Raiders in Denver on Sunday afternoon. Looking at the rest of the NFL schedule, the whole country will either be paying attention to this game or the GB/DAL game when four o’ clock rolls around. What does that have to do with this article? Well, the Broncos will know what it ahead of them by kickoff.
This weekend, the Broncos can clinch a spot to play some January football. What do they have to do? Well, the Broncos must win against the Raiders and either have the Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. Cincinnati Bengals) or the New York Jets (vs. Tennessee Titans) lose their game in the one o’clock window. So, Broncos fans will be rooting for the Bengals and/or the Titans in the early going.
Broncos fans might also want to root for the team that they beat last Sunday. That’s right. The Broncos can also clinch their fifth straight AFC West division and be guaranteed one home game in January if they beat the Raiders and the Chargers defeat the Chiefs on the road, also at the 1 PM EST time.
With so many games kicking off before the Broncos face the Raiders, it will make it that much easier to see what lies ahead of them. Clinching a spot in January football is the very first step in obtaining the ultimate prize.
Of course, we all know that the Broncos need to take care of their own business. I have learned that things will fall in place as long as you take care of your own business. The goal is to defeat the Raiders on Sunday. Once that is done, everything else will fall into place when the time is right.
However, anything can happen on Sunday. Let us see what happens this weekend. Go Broncos!
