Denver Broncos pass rusher DeMarcus Ware will travel with the team to San Diego on Sunday and go through a pre-game workout…
It was thought that all of the players ruled “out” for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers would probably stay in Denver and continue to receive treatment, but Gary Kubiak told the media that DeMarcus Ware will indeed make the trip out with his teammates and get in a pre-game workout…
“We’re going to leave three guys back. We’re going to leave T.J., ‘Sly’ (NT Sylvester Williams) and Peyton back and leave a couple of our trainers back with them to work them through the weekend. DeMarcus—even though we’ve ruled DeMarcus out, he’s had a good week. He’s made good progress. We don’t think this is the week to start, but we want to keep him through the routine and go out there Sunday morning and really work him out as if he’s playing some that day. His progress, everything is trending toward next week. He’s doing a good job.”
“We’re going to work him out before the game, put him through a really good workout. It’s been a good week for him.”
The 11th year veteran has played in just seven of the Broncos’ games this year, and they are 6-1 when he plays.
He has 6.5 sacks so far this season and has been incredibly disruptive when he’s been out there on the field. Kubiak said he was close to being able to play this week, but they want to make sure they take every necessary precaution before putting him back out there on the field…

“Yeah, he was really close. He practiced well yesterday, even better today. I think he’s very confident. I think we kind of made up our mind yesterday that we’re going to stay the course. It’s not time yet.”
It would be foolish of me to try and speculate this, but Kubiak’s comments there seem to indicate that Ware is closer to being able to play than he isn’t. Barring any setbacks, could we see him on the field for the team’s home game against the Oakland Raiders next week?
That very well could be. We will get more updates on Monday and Tuesday.
