Kansas City Chiefs

Pre-Season Prediction: 8-8

Current Record: 3-5

Revised Record Prediction: 6-10

My Take: Because of their strong running game, pass rushing talent and coaching experience, I expected the Chiefs to

be a competitive, if not a playoff caliber football team this year.  By all means, the Chiefs are still in the playoff hunt at 3-5, but it’s fair to say that the Chiefs season thus far can be classified as a mild disappointment.  For a team that has the longest tenured coaching staff in the division to go along with a roster full of core players, they were expected to be a stronger and more consistent unit.

You could really compare the Chiefs as a team with “swiss cheese” type depth. In some areas, their depth is among the best in the nfl (outside linebacker, running back) but in other areas, they are bereft of talent (offensive line, tight end, wide receiver).

If they didn’t have their best offensive player suffer a season ending injury, I would have kept them at their pre-season record prediction, but due to that injury and a five game losing streak, I can’t see this team winning more than six games.  Their not a bad team, but there definitely not what you would consider a “good” NFL team, either.
