In the rematch between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, the Colts traveled to Denver to take on the Broncos in the 2014 season opener on Sunday Night Football. The Broncos were looking to make a return trip to the Super Bowl.

They came out firing in the first half as they outscored the Colts 24-7 in the first half, which was led by three touchdown passes from Peyton Manning to Julius Thomas and a Brandon McManus field goal.

The lone score from the Colts came on a Luck nine yard touchdown scamper towards the end of the half.

However, the second half would prove that the Colts were not going to go away quietly. There was only a field goal scored by Adam Vinatieri in the third quarter that made the score 24-10 going into the fourth.

Montee Ball scored about halfway through the fourth quarter to give the Broncos a commanding 31-10 lead. It appeared as if the Broncos were on their way to an opening day victory. But the Colts stormed back to score 14 points in a span of a little over four minutes. Luck connected with Dwayne Allen and Hakeem Nicks to bring the score to 31-24 Broncos.

The Broncos would suffer a quick three and out and gave the ball back to Indy with a little over three minutes. However, with the Colts driving, a fourth down pass by Luck at the Denver 39 would be knocked away by rookie cornerback Bradley Roby.

The Broncos would win the game and start their season on a high note.
