The Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders would battle in what I would call the closest regulation win for the Broncos in the series history.

The two teams exchanged touchdowns in the first quarter with Jeff Hostetler and Shannon Sharpe scoring for the Raiders and Broncos respectfully. Jason Elam would add two field goals to give the Broncos a 13-7 lead at the half.

With no scoring in the third quarter, the two teams would engage in perhaps the craziest 15 minutes in the series history. Elam’s field goal in the fourth gave the Broncos a 16-7 lead. But the Raiders would come storming back when Jeff Hostetler connected with Derrick Fenner and Tim Brown for a touchdown to give the Raiders a 21-16 lead.

The Broncos would have the last laugh however, as John Elway and Rod Smith would connect on a 49 yard touchdown on the next possession. The Broncos would miss on the two-point conversion, which gave the Raiders some light. However, they were forced to punt and the Broncos were able to run the clock out to secure a 22-21 victory.
