The Denver Broncos squared off against the Los Angeles Raiders in what would be a pretty significant game for a current head coach. However, it did not start off well for him.
Current Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak got the start in the game when John Elway could not go. However, he gave the Raiders the first points of the game when he was tackled in the end zone for a safety. That would lead to a Marcus Allen touchdown reception to make it 9-0 Los Angeles.
Chris Bahr would add a field goal to make it 12-0 before the Broncos scored on two field goals from Rich Karlis to make it 12-6 at the half. The Raiders would add another Marcus Allen touchdown to make it 19-6 going into the fourth quarter.
Gary Kubiak would make some of his own Mile High Magic at the Coliseum as he led the team down the field with two passing touchdowns to Clarence Kay and Steve Watson to tie the game and bring the game to overtime. Rich Karlis would kick the game winning 35-yard field goal to end the game.
The significance for this game was it would hold as one of Gary Kubiak’s three wins as a starter. What a team to get a win against.
