The Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions square off for the first time in four years on Sunday Night. History has not been good to the Broncos the last two times the teams have faced off. In fact, the Broncos have not won a game against Detroit since 2003.

Going into the game, the Broncos hold a 6-5 lead on the Lions in the series all time. The teams did not even meet for the first time until about 11 years after the Denver Broncos began play in the league.

Despite the limited number of times both teams have played each other, the two franchises have had some close games. In fact, five of the eleven matchups have been decided by six points or less. If that is any indication, this will be quite a game on Sunday.

Let us take a look at five memorable games that have taken place between the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions

#5-Thanksgiving Battle- November 28th, 1974

The Denver Broncos traveled to Detroit on a cold Thanksgiving battle at Tiger Stadium. The temperature was 32 degrees with the wind chill at 21 degrees.

The game went back and forth for the first half as the team traded scores until Detroit took the lead on a 55 yard interception return for a touchdown to make it 17-10.

However, the Broncos would not go away and continued to fight away. In fact, the Broncos outscored the Lions 21-3 in the third quarter to take a 31-20 lead. The touchdowns were scored for the Broncos by Jon Keyworth, Otis Armstrong, and Riley Odoms.

The Lions would bring the score to four with a fourth quarter touchdown, but the Broncos held strong and got a solid 31-27 win.
