Key Matchups
Broncos Offensive Line vs Chiefs pass rush
The Denver Broncos offensive line had a difficult time during the middle stages of the game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday as Peyton Manning was sacked four times during the game, which is the most that he has been sacked in an entire game for quite some time.
If the Broncos want to get their offense going against a challenging Kansas City defense, they are going to have to do a better chance of defending their quarterback as well as open up the holes for the running back.
If they fail to do that this week, it could spell trouble once again for the offense and then we will have to hear about it once again about how the offense could not get things going. I am hoping that is not the case.
Kansas City wide outs vs. Denver secondary
While the Chiefs got much needed help at wide receiver with the addition of Jeremy Maclin, it appears that the wide receiving corps of Kansas City is still a work in progress. As long as the Broncos shut down Jeremy Maclin, it will be difficult for Alex Smith to get things going.
Even though the team has Travis Kelce, the team will not be able to rely on him forever. And with Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, Bradley Roby, the return of T.J. Ward among others, it will not be easy for the Chiefs to get things going through the air.
The wide outs are going to need to step up and help Alex Smith if they are going to have any chance of a home opening win against their division rivals.
