Another game that was a big defensive battle took place just about ten months later in 2006. The Baltimore Ravens came into Denver undefeated at 4-0, having outscored their first 4 opponents 86-33.

Both teams exchanged field goals in the first half and went into the half tied at 3. There was no score in the third quarter in a very heated defensive battle. Jason Elam would break the tie with a field goal about halfway through the 4th quarter to make it a 6-3 Broncos lead.

The game continued to be a defensive standstill until Jake “The Snake” Plummer drove the Broncos down the field and connected with Rod Smith on a four yard touchdown pass that put the Ravens away for good.

What was key about this game was Jake Plummer only had 106 yards passing on 13 for 24 in the passing game. The Broncos defense showed their Orange Crush muscles once again against the Ravens, sacking Steve McNair twice and intercepting him three times and forcing a fumble.
