The Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens will meet for the 13th time on Sunday. Even though the Broncos have been in the NFL longer than the Ravens, they currently hold a 5-7 record against them.

Most of their meetings came when the Ravens were out to prove that defense does win championships. From 2000 until 2005, the Ravens were in control of the series, having outscored the Broncos 101-45 in the four games from 2000-05.

The series has been evenly matched in the past few games, with the Broncos winning two of the last three games in the series. Both teams have a lot going for them as they are known as two of the better teams of the AFC.

Sunday’s matchup will be an interesting one with various players and coaches going up against their former teams. Gary Kubiak was the offensive coordinator in Baltimore while Darian Stewart and Owen Daniels were on the Ravens last season.

Even though both teams have only played each other 12 times, some of the games have been memorable. Some classics, comebacks, and key moments in history has happened between the Broncos and Ravens. Here are some key games between these two games.

First Meeting- October 20th, 1996

The Denver Broncos were one of the Baltimore Ravens’ first games when they entered the league in 1996. As this team was set to find it’s identity, the Broncos got first taste of what they were capable of.

Denver opened up with leads of 14-0 and 28-13 by halftime. But Baltimore came out in the second half and came out firing. The Ravens outscored John Elway and company 21-3 in the third quarter to take a 34-31 lead going into the final frame.

Four minutes into the fourth quarter, John Elway connected with Ed McCaffery on a four yard strike to put the Broncos back on top 38-34. Elway would then put the game away with a nine yard touchdown run with about a minute left in the game to secure the 45-34 win.
