The Denver Broncos have concluded training camp on Thursday. Now that the offseason has been completed, the team is looking towards this Saturday’s matchup against the Houston Texans. One player that is excited for the opportunity to play this weekend is future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning.
Peyton Manning rested during the Broncos 22-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks last week. For most fans, it will be a test to see how Peyton Manning does in Gary Kubiak’s offense. We are all looking forward to how Peyton Manning has progressed in game time action.
The quarterback met with the media on Thursday to talk about this weekend’s game as well as a couple other key quotes ranging from his grip to going up against Houston Texans’ defensive end J.J. Watt. Let us take a look at some of the quotes from his time with the media.
When asked about how long he wanted to play in the game on Saturday, Peyton Manning did not beat around the bush, but at the same time, he understood what could happen.
“I think you always want to be out there and you want to play as long as you possibly can. Whenever they take you out, that’s what they do. You try to play a four quarter game and get ready for a regular season game. That’s kind of your mental approach.”
Peyton Manning is slated to play at least one quarter, if not a little bit longer. This is a good approach by the Broncos so that the quarterback gets a feel for the offense while keeping him refreshed for the regular season.
Emmanuel Sanders recently came out and said that Peyton Manning throws harder without a glove. When he was approached that question, Manning approached the question as it appeared that Sanders was trying to say things in order to look his way often during the regular season.
“I feel like he is trying to get more catches this season. Butter me up maybe. But for the past four years, the glove has been the go-to question. Due to my injury, my hand has had some issues with nerves, so I have been forced to wear the glove. I do not have a set plan one way or the other. [glove or no glove] I feel comfortable with both.”

Peyton Manning’s former coach Tony Dungy recently made some comments about his meetings with Peyton Manning in hallways during Patriots games, saying that he felt like the locker room could have been bugged. When asked about those comments, Peyton Manning went with his golden rule, silence is golden.
“I think there is kind of a rule, that while you are still playing, that what goes on in the locker room stays in the locker room. When you stop playing, you write a book and you get on commentary and it all seems to be told. I’m still playing, so I don’t talk about what goes on in the locker room. I won’t write a book, by the way, so you won’t find out what goes on in the locker room, even after I stop playing.”
Such a shame that we will not get a book written by Peyton Manning. But at least we are glad that he will be leading the team towards hopefully another Super Bowl run in 2015. Can’t wait to see Peyton Manning in action on Saturday.
