Camp Updates
Denver Broncos
The staff here at Predominantly Orange have been covering some entertaining news from what has gone on during training camp leading up to this point. Some have been exciting while some of them have been hard to take in. (injury wise) Let us take a look at three key items that the staff has written on during this week in training camp.
Matt Paradis earning starting center job
An article written by Sayre Bedinger talks about last season’s practice squad member Matt Paradis and his work towards becoming the next center for the Denver Broncos. Could we see Matt Paradis suit up in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens?
Is Trevor Siemian on the rise?
An article that I wrote earlier this week talks about how Trevor Siemian’s performance in the Seahawks game could be the start to something even bigger. This week, it was noted that Siemian was taking third string snaps, meaning Zac Dysert could be behind him on the depth chart now. Have the Broncos found the future backup to Brock Osweiler?
Barth and McManus competition heats up
Connor Barth and Brandon McManus appear to be in a deadlock for the placekicker position. Both men hit long field goals during practice. Barth hit a 65 yarder while McManus hit a 70 yarder with some room to spare. Who will impress the most in Week 2 of the preseason. The winner will have a “leg up” in the competition. Pun intended.
Houston Texans
The staff at Toro Times have been covering the Houston Texans training camp. As you may know, the Texans are in this season’s Hard Knocks by HBO. There has been a lot of inside access to what they have gone through in training camp. Here are some stories that the Toro Times have covered.
Bill O’Brien: Not everyone a fan of harsh vocabulary
In somewhat of a comedy aspect of becoming the team involved in Hard Knocks, Bill O’Brien has one person out there who is not a fan of his use of vocabulary. Toro Times noted that the coach’s mother tuned in one night and was not a fan of his profanity, even though O’Brien asked his mom not to tune in. Family gathers will get awkward now.
2015 Houston Texans Bold Prediction
Back to the football nature, Ethan Lington of Toro Times has made quite a bold prediction for the Houston Texans defense. We know with players like J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney the Texans will probably win a few games with defense. His bold prediction for them is quite interesting, but I am sure the Broncos defense will have something to say about that.
Jadeveon Clowney returns to practice
Speaking of defense, the Houston Texans will be getting their former number one pick back on the field. The outside linebacker has recovered from microfracture knee surgery following a disappointing rookie year in which he missed quite a bit of time, only playing one game during the season.
The fallout during his rookie year started with the Broncos and Texans joint practice where Clowney ended up with a concussion when colliding with former Bronco Jacob Tamme. After that, it lead to a knee injury. Now he is back and looking to have a better sophomore campaign.
