The Denver Broncos have the least amount of worry at the quarterback position. With Peyton Manning getting the go-ahead to start and Brock Osweiler playing well enough last Friday to gain some consideration to be the team’s face of the future, it could be said that the team will be good to go long term. However, a heated battle for perhaps a practice squad spot is underway.

Zac Dysert and Trevor Siemian are battling for the third quarterback spot on the depth chart. However, that spot will most likely result in the winner staying on the team as a practice squad member. Unless you missed the first game and been away from the news, Trevor Siemian has taken the lead in the battle for number three to most fans and media writers.

In fact, it appears that in Broncos practices, Trevor Siemian has taken snaps with the third team. This does not spell good news for Zac Dysert. Of course, when you only complete 2 out of 5 passes for 14 yards while Trevor Siemian went 5 of 6 for 90 yards, you should expect to get bumped down.

Could we see Trevor Siemian as the emergency backup and/or practice squad participant? It could very well be the case. And it would make for a very good story as well. Trevor Siemian is recovering from a knee injury that sidelined him the remainder of his college career. It is very interesting how one game could change the entire process of the roster depth.

There is still quite a bit of time left to go before the roster gets trimmed down to the final 53 men. However, from what has been seen from nearly every Broncos fan, Trevor Siemian has the inside track to earn one of the ten spots on the practice squad.
