Karl Mecklenburg

Perhaps known as one of the better hybrid defensive linemen/linebackers in the league, Karl Mecklenburg was with the Denver Broncos from 1983 to 1995. He just missed out on winning a Super Bowl with the Broncos, but his numbers as well as his versatility make him a prime Hall of Fame candidate.

Karl Mecklenburg was a six time Pro Bowler and had some impressive numbers as a Broncos defensive player. He recorded over 1,000 tackles and 79.5 sacks. His sack number is the second highest in Denver Broncos history. He was a huge part to the Denver Broncos Super Bowl runs in the 1980’s despite being drafted in the 12th Round.

However, because the Broncos were beaten so badly in the Super Bowl’s that Karl Mecklenburg was a part of, it could be said that being considered for a bust in the Hall of Fame is very unlikely. Even though they could not win in the big game, there should be no reason why he is not enshrined in the near future.
