Connor Barth (PK), Karl Schmitz (P, KOS), Aaron Brewer (LS)

The special teams unit of the Denver Broncos is one that should provide quite a bit of competition. The one position that is all locked up is the long snapper position. Aaron Brewer has not been talked about a whole lot since he joined the Broncos, which means that he is doing something right.

The competition will come from the players who place their foots on the football. Connor Barth was a solid place kicker for the Broncos last year, as he only missed one out of 16 field goals in 2014. Brandon McManus will be his competition, but unless he has dramatically worked on his accuracy, the job is all Connor Barth’s.

While Connor Barth has a strength in field goals, his weakness is on the kickoff. That is where I see Karl Schmitz take over. I know that he basically became a hit because of his Youtube videos, but I really liked what I saw from him. Plus he could help with punting and kickoffs so that the Broncos have one extra roster space. Carrying three kickers for three different jobs seems like overkill.
