Denver Broncos Camp: Pursuit of a Super Bowl Begins
If the wait for football season and the Denver Broncos was as unbearable for you as it was for me, then this pump up video will make it even more so.
(h/t to our pal Tim Lynch and Mile High Report for shedding light on this)
There are plenty of question marks facing the Broncos this year. What will Peyton Manning be like? Is he as ‘done’ as people say he is?
What will happen with the offensive line, and who will be the starting five for that matter?
How does the absence of Derek Wolfe affect the first quarter of the season?
Will having a new coaching staff prevent the Broncos from contending for a title in year one?
Is this team good enough to win a title?
I don’t have all the answers here, but the most important question is that last one. Is this team actually good enough to win a title? My personal opinion is that they are, but for most, that is really dependent on where you feel Peyton Manning is at physically and mentally at this point in his NFL career.
Prior to his injury last season, he looked more like the 2013 version of Peyton Manning that we’d all grown extremely fond of and used to. You know, the Manning who engineered the highest scoring offense in NFL history and set regular season records for yards and touchdowns?
I don’t think that guy just fell off of a cliff, but maybe I’m just too naive to see the reality.
When the Broncos switched to a more run-oriented offense last year, Manning was playing injured and a lot more under center than he usually does. It was completely out of character for him, and the switch in the middle of the season to accommodate injury didn’t help Manning at all. In fact, I think it was more of a detriment than anything.
But now that the Broncos have an entire offseason to prepare differently, I think this team is poised to make a major leap. The Broncos have a phenomenal defense and weapons offensively, and I think with Manning fully healthy, this is a team that can contend for a Super Bowl.
We’ll get our first look at them next week.
