Denver Broncos Defense Ready to Breakout

For the Denver Broncos, 2015 should be the year of the defense. This continues to be Peyton Manning’s team, but he is about to benefit from an underrated group that is poised to dominate the league. The Broncos could have the best pass rush in the NFL, and the secondary has the best cornerback in the game. Any questions will be answered by new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.

For most fans, those questions begin upfront. The departure of Terrence Knighton left a big hole to fill in the defensive line. However, many in the Broncos organization believe this is Sylvester Williams opportunity to develop into the player he was drafted to be. Phillips has a reputation of creating defensive schemes that have had great success in the league. The addition of Bill Kollar as the defensive line coach can only increase the chances that Williams will become a major run stuffer.

Sure, it is still Manning’s team, but it is the defense that everyone better be afraid of.

Chris Harris, Jr. recently spent a day in Bristol Connecticut appearing on different ESPN shows. When he spoke about the new defense, he talked about being on the attack. This team is going to fly around, go after the quarterback, and make big plays. Harris, Jr. is the best cornerback in the league, and the Broncos secondary could be the anchor that leads this team to the promised land.

With the secondary locking down receivers, the broncos pass rush is going to have time and opportunity to get to the quarterback. Von Miller has become one of the best pass rushers in the game. Demarcus Ware continues to be a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks, as well. If that wasn’t already enough for opponents to worry about, the Broncos got the steal of the draft. Shane Ray is going to play a major role on this defense. He is learning from two of the best players in the league.

Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan should be good to go this season, too. The linebackers on this team should have no problem finding the football and wreaking havoc. Injuries slowed this group in 2014. The upcoming season will be this group’s opportunity to show what it can do.

Since Peyton Manning came to Denver it has been the offense that people think of when they think about the Broncos. He has set records, and continued to be the best regular season quarterback in the league. 2015 will be the first time in Denver that he will have a defense that can win games. Sure, it is still Manning’s team, but it is the defense that everyone better be afraid of.
