One of the best things for a Denver Broncos fan came to light today. In what was a cat and mouse game in order to get a deal done for Demaryius Thomas, both sides have come up with a middle ground. The Broncos and Demaryius Thomas have agreed on a five year, $70 million dollar contract. This includes $43.5 million guaranteed. Not to mention it includes a $35 million skill/injury/cap guaranteed.

As we all know, this was something that Demaryius Thomas was not hoping for. After months of little communication and various reports of contract exchanges, the deal was completed just in time before the 4 PM EST deadline. Dez Bryant was awarded with a new five year deal, which is reported for $70 million and $45 million guaranteed. Both sides will make the same amount while Demaryius Thomas gets less guaranteed.

Now the attention is going to shift from this point out. With a new deal in place for Demaryius Thomas, the team will be able to focus on 2015 and then prepare themselves to get a deal done for Von Miller. His contract expires at the end of the 2015 season. Having Demaryius Thomas signed now gives the team a little more breathing room and a sigh of relief that the various exchanges are over.

With his brand spanking new five year, $70 million dollar deal, Demaryius Thomas now will focus on getting to training camp and learning the brand new offense. He will have a lot of catching up to do with every other receiver on the roster already learning the new zone blocking scheme. But Peyton Manning and Demaryius Thomas gelling back together should be of little concern to anyone. And Jeff Legwold assured that Demaryius Thomas will be ready.

I am, for one, very excited that at least something got done for Demaryius Thomas and the Denver Broncos. While he did not get the Calvin Johnson money that he was looking for, it is a great day for Broncos Country and all the fans. Can’t wait to see what Demaryius Thomas has for the Broncos in the great Mile High City for the next five years.
