Just a few hours ago, it appeared that Demaryius Thomas and the Denver Broncos were not going to get a deal done before the Wednesday afternoon deadline. However, recent reports have surfaced that should make Broncos fans at least take a deep breath.

According to Mike Klis of 9NEWS Denver, both Demaryius Thomas and the Denver Broncos have exchanged contract proposals. It basically will help both sides look to see what they each want to get out of the contract.

The report further states that the Denver Broncos are willing to pay Demaryius Thomas a deal that would make the superstar wide receiver the second highest paid receiver by a pretty long shot. Basically, the Broncos deal would blow Mike Wallace’s contract out of the water. This means they are willing to pay him more than $12 million dollars yearly, but just under the $16 million dollar yearly contract by Calvin Johnson.

The only problem with that deal is that on the side of Demaryius Thomas, he and his agent want the Broncos to fork over even more money. How much? More than what Calvin Johnson is making with the Detroit Lions right now. For those keeping score at home, Calvin Johnson is currently making $16.2 million.

Something tells me that the Broncos are not willing to fork over that much cash. The Broncos have expressed time and time again that they are not willing to give up so much money on a player. There have been debates left and right that Demaryius Thomas deserves or does not deserve to receive a huge payday. For me, as long as a deal gets done that both sides are happy with is all that matters to me.

If a deal is not reached before the deadline, Mike Klis has said that Demaryius Thomas could skip the early portion of training camp. But that could still change if both sides come to an agreement that is fair for both the Denver Broncos and Demaryius Thomas. The clock is ticking. Less than 48 hours to go. Let us see some magic happen and get this fiasco done.
