It seems like the public is generally considering Anderson’s Pro Bowl effort in 2014 a flash in the pan, but I don’t see that being the case.
Anderson, a former undrafted player out of Cal, is one of the best all-around backs in the league, and he has the ability to be a good one for a very long time.
From week 10 to the end of last season, there weren’t many backs in the league that were playing on the same level as Anderson. He proved his worth not only as a powerful runner, but as someone who could make people miss in the open field, put (a lot of) points on the board, and generally give the Broncos a boost when they needed it the most.
Anderson’s signature plays last season, at least in my mind, were his big catch and run for a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders in Oakland as well as his fourth down run against the Colts in the playoffs. To me, those two plays are a very brief but very accurate depiction of who Anderson is as a player. He is a fighter, and he is someone who puts the team before himself.
He’s a phenomenal back, and I think the Broncos are going to have the last laugh while everyone else seems to be taking his outstanding 2014 year as a one-time thing.
