If you are planning on going to training camp, there are some things you will need to know and for everything you could possibly have a question about, including what kind of bag you are allowed to bring to the facility, CLICK HERE.

You’ll also see me, my dad, and my brother in the picture to click on the video. If you can spot me, send me a snapshot correctly identifying me and you might win a prize.

That picture is the essence of why it’s so cool to go to training camp. It’s free, first of all, and the Broncos are so awesome about making players available for autographs, and making the practice accessible for up-close action, and generally getting a close look at the team we all love. This is unprecedented access to the team, especially compared to games.

It’s obviously not as exciting, but is so in it’s own way.

The picture on the Broncos’ site is a memory I remember very fondly. It was Manning’s first year in Denver back in 2012, and I can remember I was extremely ill at that point in time. We had traveled from South Dakota to Colorado, and I don’t know what I came down with, but it felt like someone was shoving a nine inch nail through my ear and into my head.

We were at practice, and I was so exhausted from my sickness, I was literally sleeping between ‘team’ drills. It was probably pathetic for others to witness, but I was coherent for Peyton Manning pulling one of the funniest pranks of his tenure with the team. He secretly unscrewed the lid to a water bottle, and came over and casually asked if any fans wanted a drink. Some eager young man clamored for the bottle, not knowing the lid had been unscrewed.

Manning handed the kid the water bottle, and told him he had to really tip his head back and squeeze that thing hard. The kid did, and water went everywhere. Everyone had a great laugh, and the kid came away with a Peyton Manning wristband and a memory he’ll cherish for the rest of his life.

It’s just part of the Manning mystique.

At any rate, I can’t promise you that kind of encounter with Peyton Manning, but I can promise you training camp is worth the visit.
