The Denver Broncos are in a predicament with the inside linebacker position. Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall are dealing with injuries that have kept them limited during the organized team activities. Because of this, other linebackers have gotten their chance to prove themselves to the Broncos organization. While Steven Johnson and Todd Davis have gotten the bulk of the first team reps, one player to keep an eye on is Shaquil Barrett.

Shaquil Barrett was picked up by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent last season. He played well enough during the preseason to warrant a spot on the practice squad. With the injury to Quanterus Smith last season, Shaquil Barrett got his chance to become part of Broncos Country and was promoted to the active roster.

He was on the active roster for one game during the 2014 season against the San Francisco 49ers, but was a healthy scratch.

Shaquil Barrett has been quiet during the 2015 offseason, but figures to be a dark horse candidate to make the final roster this season. According to his draft profile, which was written by Nolan Nawrocki, he has the ability to make game-changing plays at any given moment. It was mentioned that he has a knack for stripping the football, which could change the momentum of the game if the Broncos defense is able to recover it.

With the injuries to the key inside linebackers Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan, I can see Shaquil Barrett making the active roster. A lot of people in the Colorado area are hoping that this former Ram is able to make some noise this season. I believe he has a lot of potential and can become a solid contributor to the Broncos defense or special teams.

This is one player on defense that fans should not be sleeping on, if they are already. Shaquil Barrett has the potential to become a huge player for the Broncos in 2015.
