Jordan Norwood was on track last year to make the final roster as a receiver and a returner. However, he unfortunately tore his ACL during the third week of the preseason. It was believed that he was going to make the roster.
Ten months removed from tearing his ACL, Jordan Norwood looks to get back and earn his spot on the roster after having a successful 2014 training camp. Now with Wes Welker no longer on the roster, the opportunity is there for Jordan Norwood to impress the new coach Gary Kubiak and his coaching staff similar to how he impressed John Fox. When training camp begins, Jordan Norwood is projected to be completely healed from the ACL surgery. This is good because during camp, the receiver competition should heat up.
Other than being a returner for the Broncos, which I foresee the team using him for the majority of his playing time, I believe the Broncos could use him as a fourth receiver. If he recovers and comes back strong, I could see him beating out Andre Caldwell for the fourth wide out position. In my opinion, Jordan Norwood has a lot more upside than Andre Caldwell as far as his speed and his abilities in the return game.
He is the player whom not a lot of people have heard a lot of. Jordan Norwood has not played since 2012 because of injuries and this year could be his huge coming out party. I remember him from his time with the Cleveland Browns and he was a solid contributor.
I have complete confidence that Jordan Norwood will do enough to make the roster for the Denver Broncos. I believe he gives the Broncos the best chance at the return game and now with Wes Welker no longer in Denver, he could be a great contributor to the Broncos passing attack with Peyton Manning.
Look out for Jordan Norwood. He could be the unsung hero for the Broncos special teams and perhaps offense in 2015.
