The second year tackle out of the University of Michigan has already been working out at left tackle this off-season so there is certainly familiarity at that spot in Gary Kubiak‘s system for Schofield. Per an April 1st article by Leff Legwold on ESPN.com, Kubiak ear-marked the 3rd round pick in the 2014 draft for right tackle, but John Elway likes his athleticism so that tells me that he can be used in various positions along the offensive front.
"“He’s a young guy,’’ Elway said. “When we looked at him in the draft and took him (in the third round), we saw an athletic guy who could move, had a lot of experience in college, who was only going to get bigger and stronger in the NFL. A guy like that is going to keep that athleticism as you work with him to make him stronger … And we saw a lot of good things from him in practice and in the preseason last year.’’"
Additionally, he is from that offensive line factory at Michigan. What makes the prospect of Schofield even more encouraging is that he started 13 games at Ann Arbor in 2013…in a zone blocking scheme. So this will be nothing new to him.
