Denver Broncos‘ left tackle, Ryan Clady is one of, if not THE best left tackle in the NFL. The paramount job he has is protecting the blind side of quarterback, Peyton Manning. So needless to say, when news came down that he tore his ACL in Wednesday’s OTAs and is lost for the 2015 season, Broncos’ Country became a bit panicked. So now we’re faced with the question, what now?
My original impulse was a 12-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon and a shoulder on which to weep. Then I realized that was a bit hyperbolic. I am sure that John Elway and the Broncos’ front office are not wallowing in self-pity because that would waste valuable time; valuable time better served resolving the void at left tackle. So what are the options available to Denver to replace Ryan Clady? Whatever they may be, the replacement will have to be proficient in zone blocking. Thus, I think there will be more options than if Denver was a Pittsburgh-esque power run game. Here are a few guys I have in mind.
