One-third of the Broncos draft picks are now officially under contract with the team.
The Broncos announced that fifth round draft pick Lorenzo Doss has signed his rookie contract with the team. This makes three draft picks in 24 hours that the Broncos have signed. Only six more draft picks to go.
Lorenzo Doss is a corner back out of Tulane. With the Broncos using that aggressive defense, the defensive backs are going to be relied upon to finish the play. Especially if the quarterback has the chance to get the football in the air. Lorenzo Doss is a perfect corner back for that situation. If the quarterback gets the ball up in the air, he has the ability to go up and catch it.
He is well known for his ball hawking skills as a corner back, which is quite remarkable. His size might not be ideal, he is listed as five feet ten inches, but he can be a play maker for the Broncos and their secondary that is already a force with the likes of Aqib Talib, Chris Harris, T.J. Ward, and Bradley Roby.
It is a good thing the Broncos did draft him. Lance Zierlein had such high praise for him when it came to his abilities.
"“Doss is a thin but functionally strong cornerback with an overriding desire to compete for every ball thrown his way, which led to 33 passes defensed and 15 interceptions during his three-year stint at Tulane. He wasn’t challenged very often in 2014 and his long speed will be revealed in his workouts, but his ball skills and ability to flip the field should gain him additional attention from general managers.”"
With the signing of Lorenzo Doss, the secondary just got a little deeper. And perhaps more lethal, especially in the passing game. Welcome to Broncos Country Lorenzo Doss.
