As the Denver Broncos continue their push towards the 53-man roster, there are another two players who’s dream of making an NFL team got axed by the Denver Broncos.
The Denver Broncos have announced that they have waived offensive guard Jon Halapio and wide receiver Matt Miller from the team on Monday. Both moves are not that surprising due to the depth of the roster currently.
Jon Halapio was on the Broncos practice squad back in 2014 for a month. He was a sixth round selection by the New England Patriots. However, he did not make the Patriots final roster and ended up playing in the Fall Experimental Football League with the Boston Brawlers. He became an all star in the Fall Experimental Football League and was signed by the Denver Broncos late in the season as a practice squad member.
Matt Miller was a wide receiver who spent his college career playing at Boise State. The Broncos picked him up as an undrafted free agent on May 8th. Because of the depth of the roster at wide out, even with Demaryius Thomas missing, it was going to be difficult for a wide out from the undrafted ranks to beat out so many of them.
These roster moves are just two more in the Broncos quest to compile the best 53 players to make a run at the Super Bowl. I will not be surprised if the team makes even more roster moves in the next few days. The Broncos brought in a few players for tryouts over the weekend. So, if those players impressed, we could see some players already on the roster getting the ax next.
But for the time being, Jon Halapio and Matt Miller are the next players to have their chances to make the roster dashed.
