The Denver Broncos and New England Patriots have developed into quite a rivalry, especially with Peyton Manning playing in Denver. Derek Wolfe has shown his displeasure towards the Patriots in the past. So, how would Derek Wolfe respond to today’s big news coming out of the NFL?

“It doesn’t affect me.”

After months of investigation, Ted Wells released his findings regarding an investigation whether the New England Patriots deflated game balls in the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. The findings revealed that it is probable that the Patriots did in fact deliberately deflate the game balls and even found that Tom Brady was “generally aware” of the rule violation.

During a media session on Wednesday, Derek Wolfe met with various reporters and writers and talked about how the offseason workout program was going. Deflategate was brought up to Derek Wolfe and he stated this about the whole situation.

While I do understand that most players would not even focus on this, especially if the situation does not regard their team, the fact that Derek Wolfe once stated that he hoped the Colts “whip the Patriots” and said that “deflategate” does not matter to him shows that he is more focused on his own and the team’s goals rather than what goes on with the other 31 teams in the league. It shows his focus and his drive to win a Super Bowl. He knows that no matter what he says it will not change anything.

We all know that the Broncos and Patriots are rivals because in the last few years, they have been labeled as the two strongest teams in the AFC, probably in the whole NFL. The fact of the matter is that Derek Wolfe, along with some current Broncos players are not really focused on what happened in the past. They are focused on the 2015 season and they hope it ends with them hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
