Denver Broncos Announce Nine UDFA Signings

facebooktwitterreddit

The Denver Broncos made nine selections in the 2015 NFL Draft, and quickly followed that up by signing nine players to underrated free agent contracts.

Here’s the list of players and a little bit about each guy and what he brings to the table for this team. We’ll do some more in-depth scouting later on.

Zaire Anderson, LB, Nebraska

Smaller linebacker prospect but a big time playmaker who had 103 tackles, 10.5 for loss, and three sacks last season for the Huskers. This is a really good football player that fell mainly due to his size.

Kalon Davis, OL, Clemson

Davis is a massive guard prospect that received high praise from his college teammates and coaches, but the question is whether or not athletically he can hold up in the NFL. He is fluent in speaking Japanese, and has an awesome pair of contacts that make him look like the gatekeeper from Thor. It’s a sight to behold.

Dillon Day, OL, Mississippi State

Solid center prospect that plays with toughness, nastiness, and is downright dirty at times, though he might dispute that. Day was suspended for a game this last year for ‘stomping’ on multiple LSU players during a game.

Matt Miller, WR, Boise State

Not to be confused with @nfldraftscout on Twitter, Miller was 15 yards shy of the all-time Boise State receiving yards record and played with three different quarterbacks in four years with the team. He’s got reliable hands but his lack of speed pushed him out of the draft.

Chuka Ndulue, NT, Oklahoma

Disruptive defensive lineman that can play inside or outside, he finished last season at Oklahoma with 49 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Team leader with great strength and good character.

Connor Rains, OT, Wyoming

Former Community College transfer who started at right tackle for Wyoming since the 2012 season. He has ideal size (6-7, 307) for the right side of the offensive line and plenty of starting experience.

Kyle Roberts, OL, Nevada

Started at right tackle for the Wolfpack for two straight seasons and participated in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl this past season. He’s also got the requisite size for the right tackle position at 6-6, 305 pounds.

Jordan Taylor, WR, Rice

Long striding wide receiver prospect who has great size (6-5, 210 pounds) and actually really good speed for that size. He has excellent ability after the catch as well. This is a really interesting player.

Josh Watson, DT, Clemson

Put up a lot of tackles for a defensive line prospect in his time at Clemson. Had an incredible pro day with 38 bench press reps at 225 pounds and a 4.98 second 40 yard dash. He will bear watching over again.

OVERALL

The Broncos should still be looking at LSU offensive tackle La’El Collins, a player they were interested in prior to the draft. They will need to make a roster move after signing nine UDFAs and drafting nine players as well, so expect a roster move or two to come in by the start of next week.

Hopefully John Elway will be aggressive in pursuit of Collins if/when he is exonerated, but this is a UDFA class that, as always, is worth watching. There are some really intriguing athletes and productive college players
