Scouting Report
Kilgo has left something to be desired from some scouts but he fits the Broncos as one-gap nose tackle prospect that has phenomenal size, quickness, and strength. He is going to come to Denver and get some of the best defensive line coaching in the NFL from Bill Kollar. Here’s a report from CBS Sports:
“Passes the eye test with a tall, filled-out frame and good arm length. Stout and sturdy body type and looks like an immovable object when he plays with consistent knee bend. Good initial pop off the snap with the ability to redirect blockers with heavy hands when he extends properly. Physical and aggressive hands to shoot his limbs into blockers, generating some movement when he keeps his lower half driving. Needs to do it consistently, but can be a bully and reset the line of scrimmage.
Good movement skills for his size in space with quick pursuit angles. Three-year starter (36 career starts) mostly at nose tackle, but also has experience at the one- and five-technique positions.”
Pick Grade: B-
This is a decent pick by the Broncos. Nothing flashy, and not a guy who blew people away with big numbers either. He started to draw a lot of interest late in the offseason draft process and obviously the Broncos liked what they saw.
