The tight end search for the Denver Broncos appears to be continuing despite the fact that the team has a plethora of tight ends already on the roster. However, this tight end that has reportedly worked out with reps of the Broncos would have me excited beyond anything.
According to Rob Rang, Florida State University tight end Nick O’Leary worked out on Friday for five different NFL reps. And one of the reps was from the Denver Broncos.
While having a rep watch the workout rather than having Nick O’ Leary in for a visit may not mean a whole lot, it does show that the Denver Broncos have some sort of intrigue with the Seminoles’ tight end. If there is one draft prospect that I have had my eye on, it would be Nick O’ Leary.
He could become a dark horse candidate for the Denver Broncos in this draft. He is a huge play maker. While he does not have that punishing skill set that Julius Thomas has, he can become a security blanket for the quarterback. Nick O’ Leary can run a short route and let his legs do the rest of the work. He has a knack of racking up yards after the catch as proven in his time with the Florida State Seminoles.
If the Broncos rep liked what he/she saw, it would not surprise me if the team brought Nick O’ Leary in for a visit. His skill set could easily fit in the Broncos offense, especially in the pass protection. He could learn under James Casey, who just recently signed with the Denver Broncos. Most scouts have compared Nick O’ Leary to James Casey, so it would be a perfect student/teacher relationship for the two players.
Nick O’ Leary is perhaps my favorite draft prospect and it would be exciting to see him in the orange and navy blue for the 2015 season.
