The Denver Broncos saw a workout at the Pro Day of Stony Brook tight end Will Tye, and were impressed enough that they are going to have a private look at him before the draft.
Tye has incredible timed speed, and it shows up on film. At 260 pounds, this is an athletic marvel and it’s no wonder he’s seeing such demand after a phenomenal pro day.
Watching his highlight tape, it’s clear to see that Tye can win physically, but it’s pretty impressive to see a guy of his size able to catch, run, block, and return punts.
That type of versatility and willingness to play a variety of positions could make him a really intriguing late-round or UDFA option for the Broncos as we get closer to the draft.
Formerly a Florida state recruit, Tye decided after not seeing much of the field in his first two years as a Seminole that he would transfer to a school that offered him more of an opportunity. He got it, and he capitalized. You can check out his skills on this highlight tape.
The Broncos have been working out a lot of different guys before the draft, or at least having plenty into team facilities for visits. The interesting thing is, these players have largely been later round guys or UDFA options. It’s no wonder that when it comes to getting some of the best undrafted players in the league, the Broncos have an inside edge. They are developing relationships with these guys well before the draft.
What the Broncos can sell a guy like Tye is an opportunity immediately as a TE/H-back, and show him their track record of developing late-round/UDFA players. This would be a really interesting addition to the team.
