The Denver Broncos plan to use the running back more often during the 2015 season. The zone blocking scheme that Gary Kubiak has begun to instil in the Broncos offense utilizes the running back in multiple ways. Even though the Broncos have a plethora of running backs already on the roster, they could be looking to add one more in the draft.
According to Mike Klis of The Denver Post, the Broncos have visited with Michigan State running back Jeremy Langford as part of one of their many draft visits. Out of all the visits that have been reported from Dove Valley, this one was perhaps the most surprising to me. The fact that the Broncos have C.J. Anderson, who emerged in the second half of the season in 2014 and has in fact developed into one of the more intriguing Broncos players going into the 2015 season.
Jeremy Langford is quite an interesting prospect for the Denver Broncos. He ended his final year at Michigan State with ten straight 100 yard games. What is even more impressive is that he rushed for at least 100 yards against 16 straight Big Ten opponents.
The one quality about him that could have drawn the Broncos to him is his ability to become a pass protector. This would be a huge quality for a running back, especially if your quarterback is a future Hall of Famer in Peyton Manning. If drafted, Jeremy Langford could be a huge asset in the passing game. He can block for Peyton Manning as he looks to find one of his receivers or Manning can drop it off to him and see what Jeremy Langford can do in space.
It will be interesting to see if this visit leads to the Broncos drafting him. Gary Kubiak and the Broncos staff are looking to put out the best 11 men possible on offense and if they think Jeremy Langford would be a good fit, they are going to draft him and see what he can do.
